Modern Endpoint Management for Global Healthcare Company

Overview

Our client, which is among the largest healthcare companies based in the U.S., requested Concurrency’s assistance with a project evaluate its global user environment and recommend a comprehensive approach to managing updates and configurations of 100,000 endpoint devices around the world.
Our client had recently experienced a large increase in its environment size as a result of a corporate acquisition. Our client’s internal IT team wanted to achieve a single endpoint management process—or at least bring cohesion to the disparate systems.

Solution

Concurrency’s project team conducted a series of workshops, analyzed help-desk data and conducted a survey to gather additional information. This was a highly collaborative project in which we worked closely with our client’s internal team. The project benefited from that team’s talents for identifying the right questions to ask and preparing the business case for internal review at multiple corporate levels.

The project resulted in a clear recommendation for implementing:

  • Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager to support legacy devices
  • Microsoft Intune with the Enterprise Mobility Suite—with the security features it offers—for Windows 10 devices

In essence, the solution design emphasized cloud-based management when possible, such as for essentially all information workers, whose endpoint devices can tie in to Office 365. The solution outlined legacy management for those devices that require regular access to an on-premises resource that cannot be access by the cloud, such as for certain lab environments.

In addition to increasing security and streamlining device management, the solution we designed also represented cost savings. For all these reasons, our client chose to move forward with implementing the Configuration Manager + Intune + EMS approach.
