eDiscovery: Exchange, Lync, & SharePoint 2013 [presentation]

Traditionally, providing eDiscovery data is either a manual process or one that requires a great deal of expensive software. Microsoft’s eDiscovery platform is designed to streamline the labor-intensive process of responding to eDiscovery requests, by providing tools that preserve and identify all relevant content, isolate the highly relevant content, and seamlessly export content for delivery.

An eDiscovery request can demand an exponential increase in time, expenses, and legal risk, but an organization can minimize the hassles and proactively manage eDiscovery risk by:

  • implementing policies for document creation and retention
  • minimizing routine business data
  • leveraging eDiscovery tools that manage search and retrieval demands

Microsoft combines SharePoint, Lync, and Exchange to create a unique eDiscovery platform that dramatically reduces the time and costs associated with eDiscovery requests.

What’s new in eDiscovery? 
Now you can preserve content while enabling people to continue working, use search tools to narrow down specific content, and review and export content—across SharePoint, Exchange and Lync.

SharePoint 2013 eDiscovery Center: SharePoint streamlines the eDiscovery data recovery process: Identify and Preserve, Search and Process, Review, and Produce. SharePoint helps organizations decrease data volume and increase content relevance. In-place holds allow users to continue to work with content during requests; powerful querying of content locates current and relevant content quickly; and exporting seamlessly transfers content for review and production.

Exchange and Lync 2013: Archiving, retention, eDiscovery, and data loss protection work together to preserve content. Preserve, archive, and search across Lync content, including instant messaging and shared files. Archiving and retention in Exchange preserves content using storage management, preservation, and data governance. New features include significantly enhanced In-Place Archiving, Query-based Preservation, and an improved Microsoft Search Foundation
