Schurz Communications turns to Concurrency for help with migration from Google Apps to Microsoft Office

Overview

Schurz Communications wanted to eliminate the limitations and difficulties of their email and document management system. They were seeking a system that would provide email and calendaring, collaboration, communication, document sharing while providing anywhere access to content.

The new environment would replace their existing Google Apps for Work that caused daily negative feedback to the IT Help Desk. Employees regularly expressed their dissatisfaction with Google being an ineffective system to conduct their jobs.

Solution

Working closely in partnership, Concurrency and the Schurz Communications IT team migrated both data and business processes from the legacy Google platform to Microsoft’s Office 365 service suite. The goal was simple – create an enterprise-class, scalable public cloud collaboration solution for Schurz’ employees at a competitive cost.

For the migration of historical email and calendaring content to Exchange Online, Concurrency utilized BitTitan’s MigrationWiz utility in conjunction with some creative PowerShell scripting. By taking this approach, the project team achieved a consistent and repeatable migration process.

Document collaboration and content management workloads were tackled by Concurrency’s SharePoint content management consultants working closely with the Schurz Communications IT group.

The resulting benefits to the client for implementing Microsoft’s Office 365 platform are many. Schurz Communications’ employees now enjoy improved collaboration services along with the latest versions of Microsoft Office applications. Meanwhile, the IT group is also able to better manage the services it provides, leveraging the administrative flexibility of PowerShell and the rich role– based access control built into Office 365.
